Manu Brazo, a rising star on the saxophone, has teamed up with Professor Bryan Evans MBE, the highly regarded accompanist and opera coach who serves as the artistic director of DIVA OPERA in the UK. Their collaboration has resulted in an album that takes inspiration from the operas Bryan Evans has performed around the world, but this time showcasing the saxophone as the lead instrument.

Manu Brazo is an innovative musician who is redefining the concept of classical music in the 21st century. He has been featured as one of the young talents of Spanish classical music in Melómano magazine, the most prestigious classical music publication in Spain. As one of the most influential names around the saxophone on social media, his videos have garnered more than 2 million views, captivating audiences worldwide.
Brazo's unique sound, sensibility, and virtuosity have made him a sought-after performer, ranging from opening for Sir Cliff Richard and for the Downton Abbey TV series official concert to solo performances in some of the world's most prestigious music halls. He has performed at Philarmonie Berlin, the Wigmore Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Opera House, St Martin in the Fields, the Presidential Hall CSO ADA Ankara in Turkey, and the 2018 Proms alongside the Britten-Pears Orchestra under the baton of Marin Alsop. Recently, Manu received the Audience Award at the Prince’s Prize of the Musicians Company.
Brazo's performances have been praised by critics, including Classic FM, where his first performance was rated as "amazing and 100% colossal." He has been a guest on BBC Radio 3 In Tune on multiple occasions since he was named BBC's Introducing Artist of 2018. Manu has also been selected to be part of some of the most prestigious Young Artist Programs in the UK, like Making Music's PDGYA. He was only the third Spaniard awarded in this scheme since it was founded in 1961. In 2020, he was selected to be part of the oldest guild of musicians in the world: The Musicians Company (founded in 1351).
Manu is an ambassador for Selmer Paris Saxophones, BAM Cases, and works actively with other brands such as Legere, Carbonissimo, and Vientos Vintage.
At the beginning of the pandemic, Manu recorded his first EP for solo saxophone: "SOLO DIALOGUE," which was released in June 2020. It was showcased on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, and Scala Radio. In September, he released his debut album, "FOLK-LORE," with pianist Pepe Fernandez. The album mixes classical and popular music, featuring airs of flamenco and improvisations in a jazz-like style, breaking the boundaries between genres. Spanish folk music is represented by the popular tunes that the poet Federico Garcia Lorca compiled, which Manu and Pepe have adapted and rearranged to the sound of the saxophone and piano, with variations that range from baroque inspiration to that of the music of the twentieth century.
Manu has also been active in entrepreneurship and speaking engagements. He has been a guest lecturer at Greenwich University, where he spoke about entrepreneurship, and a guest speaker at the Royal College of Music, where he shared his experience with social media.
Born in Seville, Manu started playing the saxophone at the age of 9. He studied in Spain before being accepted at the Royal College of Music, where he graduated with a Master in Performance and Artist Diploma with Distinction and won numerous awards. As a young musician, Manu has received support from Making Music (PDGYA), The Musicians Company, The Tillet Trust, Drake Calleja Trust, Concordia Foundation, and Talent Unlimited.
BRYAN EVANS
Bryan Evans MBE, ARCM Performers (Hons) LRAM – Piano, trained as a concert pianist at The Royal College Music, winning the Chopin Prize, Mozart Prize and all the piano accompaniment Prizes. He later specialised in piano accompaniment. He has performed extensively as soloist and accompanist throughout the UK and Europe, in London at The Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall and St John’s Smith Square and has appeared on BBC Radios 3 and 4, Channel 4 Television and the BBC World Service. As a leading exponent of accompanying chamber opera and Music Director of Diva Opera, he has played for over 4,500 performances of full operas world-wide and conducted performances of Don Giovanni, Die Zauberflöte, L’elisir d’amore, Le Nozze di Figaro (including five performances in the Opera House at the Palace of Versailles) and Lucio Silla (Belfast and Dublin). Since 2020 he has been a professor of Vocal Repertoire at the Royal College of Music and is a visiting repertoire coach at The Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He is also Music Director of Les Azuriales Opera Festival and their associated Young Artist’s Programme, and last year became a trustee and is a member of the audition panel for the Drake Calleja Trust. In 2021 he arranged the score and performed in for NI Opera’s ‘Old Friends and Other Days’. Bryan Evans was awarded an MBE for his services to music and opera in the 1993 New Years’ Honours list.

Manu Brazo es un músico innovador que está redefiniendo el concepto del músico clásico del siglo XXI. Considerado uno de los nombres más influyentes del saxofón en las redes sociales, sus vídeos han alcanzado los dos millones de reproducciones. Y en Abril de 2023 Manu sacará a la luz su segundo trabajo discográfico junto al pianista, profesor del Royal College of Music de Londres y director de Diva Opera, Bryan Evans MBE.
Ha aparecido diversas veces en Classic FM, donde su primera actuación fue calificada de “Increíble y 100% colosal”. Es nombrado BBC introducing artist en 2018 y desde entonces ha sido entrevistado y ha actuado en directo para la BBC en diversas ocasiones. En sus años de estudio en el Royal College of Music de Londres, Manu consigue formar parte de las más renombradas instituciones de jóvenes artistas. En 2019, Manu resulta ganador de uno de los concurso más importantes para jóvenes músicos de Reino Unido, el PDGYA de Making Music, siendo tan sólo el tercer músico español en conseguirlo desde que se estableció el concurso en 1961 y en 2020 consigue ser parte de el listado de artistas jóvenes del que fuera el gremio de músicos más antiguo de Europa: The Musicians Company. Manu es embajador de la marca de saxofones Selmer París y BAM y colabora activamente con otras marcas como Legere, Carbonissimo, Vientos Vintage…
Realiza su debut como solista en Reino Unido en 2016 con la Guildford Symphony Orchestra, con quienes este mismo año estrenó un concierto escrito por Darrell Davison para saxofón alto, barítono y soprano y orquesta. En 2017 interpretó el concierto para saxofón de Tansy Davies con la London Sinfonietta. Ha actuado como solista con la Orquesta de cámara de Baviera (Alemania), por gran parte de la geografía inglesa junto a City of Southampton Orchestra, Croydon Symphony, Halifax Symphony Orchestra, Sevenoaks Symphony Orchestra, RCM Philarmonic, Lichfield Sinfonia, London City Orchestra y en España junto a la Orquesta Bética de Cámara y la OSC (Universidad de Sevilla). Manu actúa regularmente en festivales internacionales como Leeds International Concert Season, Noches en los Jardines del Real Alcázar, Perth Festival of the Arts, Lasham Festival, Tetbury Music Festival, Newbury Spring Festival, Aegean Arts Festival in Crete and Risor Kammermussikkfest in Norway.
Durante el principio de la pandemia, Manu grabó su su primer EP para saxofón solo: "SOLO DIALOGUE", el cual vio la luz en Junio de 2020. SOLO DIALOGUE ha aparecido en BBC Radio 3, CLASSIC FM y en Scala Radio. Manu ha realizado los estudios de Artist Diploma y Master in Performance, ambos con las más altas calificaciones, tras ser becado para su estancia en el Royal College of Music de Londres bajo la tutela de Kyle Horch. En 2016 completó sus estudios de música en el CSM "Manuel Castillo" de Sevilla con Juan Jiménez. Realizó sus estudios de Grado Medio en el CPM “Francisco Guerrero” con Alfonso Romero.
BRYAN EVANS
Bryan Evans estudió piano en el Royal College of Music de Lonres. En tu etapa de estudiante resultó ganador del Chopin Prize, Mozart Prize y todos los premios de pianista acompañante del Royal College. Posteriormente se especializa para ser pianista acompañante.
Ha actuado como solista y pianista acompañante por Reino Unido y Europa. En Londres ha actuado en Southbank Centre, Wigmore Hall y ha aparecido en la radio y televisión de la BBC.
Bryan es considerado uno de los referentes mundiales en el acompañamiento de ópera de cámara y como Director Musical de Diva Opera ha representado más de 3500 óperas por todo el mundo. También ha dirigido Don Giovanni, La Flauta Mágica, L'elisir d'amore y la Noche de Fígaro (incluyendo cinco representaciones en la Opera House del Palacio de Versailles.
Es Director Musical de Les Azuriales Opera Festival y su programa para artistas jóvenes. y ha ejercido como jurado de la presitgiosa fundación Drake Calleja Trust y para Live Music Now.
Bryan Evans recibió el título de MBE, concedido por la Reina de Inglaterra, por sus servicios a la musica y la ópera en 1993.
